Northern HDR has a fully equipped servicing facility to accomodate any vehicle and any repair. Our experienced and licensed heavy duty repair technicians can work on any make or model and will help keep your vehicle running smoothly and minimize downtime. Read below some of our equipment and capabilities.

20 Tonne Hoist

Our 20-tonne hoist can lift engines and other parts to accomodate repair and servicing. It can lift loads up to 20 tonnes and move them horizontally. The hoist can be operated manually or with an electric motor. Safety measures such as limit switches, overload protection, and emergency stop buttons are included to prevent accidents.

The hoist can be fixed or portable and may be part of a larger lifting system. A 20-tonne hoist is a powerful and versatile tool that can improve efficiency in heavy lifting tasks.

Mig Stick Welder

A MIG (Metal Inert Gas) welder and Stick welder are two types of welding machines used in metal fabrication and repair work. Both machines produce strong welds, but MIG welders are typically faster and easier to use for thinner metals, while stick welders are better for thicker metals and outdoor welding.

MIG welders are known for their versatility and are commonly used in our repair jobs. They can be used with a variety of metals and produce cleaner welds with less cleanup. Stick welders are more portable and durable, making them ideal for outdoor projects or remote locations. They can also be used in confined spaces and on dirty or rusty metal.

A Frame

An A-frame gantry crane is a type of mobile lifting device that is designed to move heavy loads in a wide range of industrial settings. It consists of two vertical A-shaped legs with a horizontal beam at the top, forming a shape that resembles the letter "A". The beam supports a trolley or hoist that moves along the beam, allowing for easy lifting and positioning of heavy objects.
A-frame gantry cranes are commonly used in construction, manufacturing, and maintenance operations, where they can be used to move heavy equipment, machinery, or materials. They are versatile and can be easily moved to different locations thanks to their wheels and portability.
Having an A-frame crane as part of our line-up of tools, can simplify heavy lifting tasks and improve productivity with many of our jobs

Engine Tools

A heavy-duty truck repair company typically uses a variety of engine tools to diagnose, repair, and maintain engines. Some of the common engine tools used in such companies include torque wrenches, compression testers, spark plug sockets, fuel pressure gauges, and engine hoists.
Torque wrenches are used to tighten bolts and fasteners to a specific torque value, ensuring proper assembly and preventing damage to the engine. Compression testers are used to measure engine compression, which can help diagnose issues such as worn piston rings or valves. Spark plug sockets are used to remove and install spark plugs, which are critical for proper engine function.
Fuel pressure gauges are used to test fuel pressure and diagnose fuel system issues. Engine hoists are used to remove and install engines for major repairs or overhauls. Other engine tools may include timing lights, oil filter wrenches, and diagnostic scanners.
Northern Heavy Duty is equipped with a wide range of specialized engine tools on hand to ensure accurate diagnosis, efficient repair, and proper maintenance for any engine.

A/C Testing

An A/C testing machine is a specialized tool used to diagnose and repair air conditioning systems in vehicles, trucks, and other machinery. These machines typically consist of a series of gauges and hoses that connect to the A/C system and measure various parameters, such as refrigerant pressure, temperature, and humidity.
A/C testing machines can be used to check the performance of the A/C system, detect leaks, and diagnose issues with components such as the compressor, condenser, and evaporator. They may also be used to recharge the A/C system with refrigerant after a repair or maintenance service.
Some A/C testing machines are designed for use with specific types of refrigerant, such as R134a or R1234yf, while others may be able to work with multiple types. They may also come with various features, such as digital displays, automatic leak detection, or the ability to perform vacuum and pressure tests.

Computer Diagnostics

Computer diagnostics is a process that uses specialized software and hardware tools to diagnose issues with computer systems, including both hardware and software problems. In the context of heavy-duty truck repair companies, computer diagnostics is used to diagnose issues with the truck's onboard computer systems, which control various aspects of the vehicle's operation.
Computer diagnostic tools typically connect to the truck's onboard computer system using a diagnostic port, and use specialized software to read and interpret diagnostic codes and other data. This information can then be used to identify specific issues with the truck's engine, transmission, brakes, or other systems.
Computer diagnostic tools may also be able to perform various tests and simulations, such as checking sensor readings or running performance tests. Some diagnostic tools can even reprogram the vehicle's computer system with updated software or settings.
